Price Guide
Guitar set up
from £60 - acoustic or bass
from £60 - electric with fixed bridge
from £70 - electric with tremolo
(prices exclude strings and parts)
A professional set up will really help your guitar play at its best.
We will check your guitar's action, intonation, hardware and any electronics, make any adjustments needed to the nut slots, saddle(s), truss rod to suit your preferences, then give your guitar a professional clean and polish (including frets) so it looks and plays its best.
You'll get a detailed workshop note too, with all the key measurements before and after the work.
If your guitar could use a boost, call or email to book a set up.
Fret work
from £80 - full fret dress and crown
from £190 - full re-fret
from £25 per fret - partial re-fret

Damaged frets can cause buzzing, choked notes and problems with intonation. If this sounds familiar, call of email us for an estimate.
We pride ourselves on the high quality of our fret work and only use high quality Jescars, Sintoms and Dunlop fret wire, diamond filing tools, 3M micro abrasives, and the Erlewine neck jig system, to ensure the best possible results.

POA - custom modifications and fault diagnostics
(prices are plus parts)
We carry out a full range of guitar electronics fault diagnosis and repair, from simple pickup height adjustment through to full custom rewiring. We only use high quality parts and materials from manufacturers including Switchcraft, Bournes, CTS, Oak Grigsby and Sprague.
Repairs, Restoration and Refurbishment
POA depending on requirements
We often tackle extensive restorations, conservation work and refurbishments. We specialise in restoring old, play-worn guitars sympathetically, so that they are stable and playable but keep their 'lived in' character.
Wherever possible, we repair and retain all original parts and use hide glues so that our work is easily reversed.
We also carry out most general guitar repairs, including structural work such as crack repairs, loose/failed bridges, neck and headstock repairs, neck resets and brace repairs.
If you have a special guitar that needs some real love - whether its value is financial or sentimental - or need help with a problem that isn't listed, call or email us to discuss your needs.
Saddles, bridges and nuts
from £50 - nut replacement (inc basic nut)
from £50 - saddle replacement (inc basic saddle)
from £45 - replacement electric bridge
These are key parts of your guitar - they support the strings so they can vibrate freely and transfer those vibrations to the rest of the guitar. They are also key for good action and intonation. We can supply and fit a range of quality parts, whether you are replacing a broken part or upgrading, including hand-cut bone nuts and custom intonated bone saddles.
Custom guitar building and commissions
POA depending on requirements
At Malone Guitars we handcraft a small number of fine quality acoustic and electric guitars every year. The majority are built to commission, but occasionally we have guitars available from stock - you can find them in our Shop and you can keep track of work-in-progress and see some of our previous work in our Blog.
If you would like to commission us to build a unique instrument for you, please get in touch - if you can imagine it, we can build it.
